Sonny is checking out the apple pies I made for care group dinner tonight.  It is an experiment, as I tried a new recipe from on line.  I used Cortland apples which I always use for apple pies, but drizzled pure maple syrup and vanilla in addition to the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg I usually add to the pie.  Hoping it is good.  Also did not have enough Crisco for the crust, so I used coconut oil and King Arthur unbleached flour.  It remains to be tasted before they go tonight.  ( I made a small one for that.)   There is always Bakers Square in case they are not good.
