This was an experiment for me. Not my cup of tea.
I decided to do one of these block of the month quilts. Mom had bought 36″ wide yard sale fabrics years ago and every once in a while I would go through them and think some day I would use them for something. So this seemed like the time. I have had fun with watching the teachers and learning new things that have helped me to come up with nice square blocks. I am not fond of rows of blocks and this one is not laid out that way. It will take patience to wait each month for the next class which I downloaded and will have for a long time to come. One lesson, we were even taught how to resize blocks.
There are so many nice pictures of yesterdays adventure that it is hard to decide what ones to post. There was a part of the gardens called the rain forest. In there we saw a water fall and the kiddos loved that. I had never seen so many colors, sizes or varieties of orchids. The butterfly pictured above is of the same one. One picture is closed and the other open exposing the beauty of the blue. I am looking forward to the spring flowers there. Maybe we will have to buy a season ticket.
I was invited to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens today. What a fun time with my daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The flowers were beautiful! The butterflies so much fun, one even got closed in with us on the elevator. We saw beautiful colored birds and ate lunch together. Lily even climbed to the top of the dinosaur. Notice the young artist in the picture above. What a fun time!
